Mia Femtech is an exciting, novel and minimally-invasive breast harmonisation technique performed under a local anaesthetic.
It is ideal for women who wish to create the same effect as a padded bra or push-up bra and increase their breast size by 1-2 cup sizes.
Fundamental to this technique, however, is the development and design of novel surgical instruments.
Influences
Taking influence from and in homage to endoscopic instruments developed for other surgical specialities (e.g. general surgery), the clever scientists and medical engineering team at Establishment Labs (Motiva) have produced 3 instruments in particular that make this breast enhancement technique possible.
One of the fundamental principles of Mia Femtech is the concept of ‘tissue preservation’.
The rationale is to minimise the amount of tissue damage and avoid the cutting of muscle and blood vessels.
Special channel dissector
A special channel dissector firstly helps create a space in the subglandular pocket in a minimally-traumatic fashion.
Patented balloon dissector
The next instrument is the patented balloon dissector, a long hollow tube with a special balloon expander at the end.
This is inserted into the channel created initially by the dissector and then inflated with air.
The expanded balloon creates a space for the special diamond-shaped breast implant.
The expansion creates the so-called ‘nest area without damaging tissues.
The second purpose of this instrument is to help with any required haemostasis.
This procedure is performed without the need for any electrocautery so leaving the expanded balloon in place for a period of time helps provide a tamponade effect and further reassurance for the surgeon.
Special implant injector
The last instrument is perhaps the jewel in the crown.
This is the special implant injector instrument. It is a handheld device which is initially attached to suction to help suck up the implant into the lubicated funnel.
This is subsequently attached to surgical compressed air and the funnel spout is inserted into the armpit incision.
Activation of the injector button rapidly expands the internal balloon, forcing the ergonomic implant through the funnel into its ‘nest’ within the breast.
This is the amazing Mia Femtech procedure!
